Couch+Co. Co-owner Brayden Garrett with girlfriend and Marketing Director Victoria Underwood and Sales Associate Carlos Thomas. The three Mustang natives, along with resident golden doodle, Maya, opened the downtown Tulsa store in June.

At first glance, the attractive sofas and modular, marshmallowy sectionals that fill Couch+Co.’s airy showroom at 202 S. Guthrie Ave. may look like they’d come with an eye-watering price tag, but shoppers — from college students to young families to first-time homeowners — are in for a pleasant surprise.

“(Couch + Co. is for) anyone looking to save a little bit of money in the furniture department,” says Marketing Director Victoria Underwood, girlfriend of Brayden Garrett. Garrett co-owns the company along with his brother, Chandler, and father, Bodie.

“Our overhead is just a lot lower compared to everywhere else,” says Garrett, 24. “A lot of places do a commission-based sell. We don’t do that, so we don’t have to markup to compensate for that.”

Garrett also adds they operate with a very small team — it’s just himself, Underwood and his best friend Carlos Thomas, sales associate. The three only recently became Tulsa people, moving here to open Couch+Co.’s second location this summer. The company's first location, originally specializing in used couches, remains in Oklahoma City and is run by the rest of Garrett’s family.

Garrett and Chandler, 26, never intended for what started as a simple 2020 side hustle restoring and selling used couches to take off so epically, but once the neighborhood HOA got involved due to buyers’ cars constantly filling the cul-de-sac of their mother’s home, the brothers knew they were on to something.

“People would come in from everywhere, but especially Tulsa,” says Underwood. “They’d even ask if we’d deliver for crazy amounts of money.”

Since opening the Tulsa location in June, business has been great, Garrett says. Their best seller is The Cozy Sectional, which is made of extremely soft, corded fabric and is the perfect flop spot for plushy midday naps and movie nights.

At $1,399, The Cozy is the company’s top seller. From Sean and Catherine Lowe’s “Home” line, Couch+Co. is the only retail location the sectional may be purchased from besides online through Wayfair.

The second-best seller is their Cloud Dupe, which comes in seven different colors and can be bought in customizable pieces to fit a space, Underwood says. “Cloud couches are a whole trend going on right now, so it’s been pretty popular,” Garrett adds.

The Cloud Dupe is completely customizable. Each piece is $475 and comes in mustard (pictured), olive green, rust, blue, light grey, dark grey and beige.

Though they may undersell many big-name furniture stores in the area, Garrett says that never comes at the expense of quality. “We’re super picky on what we bring in, so it’s not going to be something that’s going to break down in six months.”

While Couch+Co. mostly sells new couches, there are also some used sectional options, and they do trade-ins as well. Other new furniture items such as dining tables and chairs, mattresses, bedroom sets and more can be found on their website at shopcouchandco.com. The company currently delivers anywhere in Oklahoma and the north Texas area.
