McCALL, ID (Friday, July 28, 2023) – If you’re among the skiers and snowboarders who carry fond memories from the 32-year run of the Centennial Triple Chair, NOW is your chance to take home a piece of Brundage Mountain history.
Community members are invited to purchase one or more of 169 three-seat carriers removed this spring during the dismantling of the old fixed-grip triple chairlift. The carriers will be available for purchase during a one-day parking lot sale starting at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 5. The cost is $800 per carrier.
These chairs faithfully transported multiple generations to the top of Brundage Mountain in what can only be described as a “leisurely” ride. The old Centennial lift is being replaced with a new Doppelmayr high speed detachable quad. The new lift will cut the old 16-minute ride down to just six minutes and will be completed in time for the upcoming 2023-24 winter season.
ABOUT THE ONE-DAY PARKING LOT SALE:
Those interested in purchasing MUST PICK THE CARRIERS UP from the Centennial Parking Lot at Brundage Mountain Resort on Saturday, August 5. The sale begins at 10:00 am. Quantities are limited and sales will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Carriers cost $800 each and can be purchased with cash or a check made out to Brundage Mountain Resort. The carriers weigh approximately 250 pounds. They are 8’7” tall, 6’1” wide, and 2’5” deep. The top stem can be removed for ease of transport. Comfort bars are not included. Brundage Mountain staff members will assist with loading, but purchasers are responsible for securing their own loads. There will be no ‘holds’ so all purchases must be made and picked up during the one-day sale. More information is available here.
ABOUT THE NEW HIGH-SPEED CHAIRLIFT
The new chairlift – a Dopplmayr 4CLD — is a high speed, detachable quad. It will have a vertical rise of 1,616 feet and will result in a swift, six-minute ride from base to top terminal. Construction on the new lift is currently underway and will be complete for the upcoming ski season.
The new lift will cut the ride time by more than half, from 16 minutes to 6 minutes, and increase uphill capacity from 1300 people per hour to 1800 people per hour.
“Upgrading the Centennial lift to a high-speed quad does more than just cut down the ride time,” says Brundage Mountain General Manager, Ken Rider. “The loading experience will be so much smoother – especially for families – which will make some of our best terrain much easier to access.”
“Having two high-speed quads in the base area gives us more flexibility and redundancy for moving people up the mountain, which is especially important on busy days and holidays, and during challenging weather conditions,” says Rider.
